Eddie (formerly Zaboo)

November 1, 2009 update -- Dear SCARS, We were rescued by "Zaboo" on Sept 15/09. His very caring and wonderful foster mom had given him that jazzy name to help get him noticed. He is a Black Lab/Border Collie cross of about a year old.

He looked very ordinary when we went to meet him... barking, jumping, pulling, but we were prepared to do whatever was needed for this "stray." I trusted the lineage of this type of cross and was hurting so bad after losing our family Lab just one month before. I was looking forward to the diversion of the challenge.

Well the biggest challenge for this guy was learning his name. He wasn't responding to Zaboo, so we changed it to Eddie. It took him about 10 days to nail it. From the moment we picked him up at the foster home he has been a perfect gentleman! He is very well mannered in the house, in vehicles, on the leash and now even off leash. He is great with kids and other dogs. He barked once, seven days after we got him, and we are still waiting for that second bark (it's been six weeks). Housebreaking, chewing, etc. were never an issue. He is so affectionate and fun we just can't believe it.

I need to tell everyone out there who is hurting from losing "the best dog in the world," that the gaping hole in your heart, will hurt for a long time, but SCARS can at least help you get stitches. There are some wonderful dogs out there who need a warm home for the winter. Take a chance, you can't believe how wonderful it can turn out!
