June 2012 - I caught this look on Taz's sweet face after he took a dip in Hermitage Off-Leash Dog Park. Boxer's don't really like water, but Taz is crazy about it and actually "blows bubbles" as he dives under to get weeds up by the roots! He turned 2 years-old in May and has become Mr. Entertainment (so happy-go-lucky)! He is so friendly; he meets and greets everyone he sees, his tails wiggles so hard it almost knocks him off balance!
I take him with me to use as my "assistant" to help socialize client dogs; and he seems to have an amazing in-born, natural talent, knowing which dog is aggressive, which dog is submissive, and how to approach certain personality types. He has a gift. When he came into our home, he gave Niki a gift too; he taught him how to play, how to have a sense of humor, and proved that a dog-aggressive dog can love a goofy little boxer puppy.
I work with Taz every day, and he never ceases to amaze me. While I miss my dear Niki (see Niki unleashed) so very much, Taz mourned Niki for a few days, searching the house, thinking he would appear out of nowhere, cried for him, and eventually gave up. I kept Taz busy as Cesar Millan says, "Dogs live in the moment, the here and now!" Taz has quickly moved on.
On Saturday July 7th, Taz and I will be joining all of you at Tails on the Trails (for the first time) to walk in memory of Niki and the many other pups who are "Gone, But Never Forgotten" to raise money and awareness for Second Chance Animal Rescue Society. I know Niki would not want me to sit and cry, but move forward; so that is what we will be doing. See you then.
